As an ER nurse, you are expected to act and respond quickly, be alert most of the time, and be a keen observer but know how to prioritize.
In difficult situations, and from what I have experienced, we shouldn't need to know only the basic fundamentals, but we also need to be empathetic towards the people we are encountering since unprecedented situations may lead to tragic results, and sometimes, the only thing that helps is to show empathy and kindness.
It is also very helpful in an emergency situation for everyone working as a team and in unity. No one blames and finds faults in each other. Treating and caring for patients like they're our family members.
