Susan A McEntee, BSN, RN, RNC-OB

Susan is an extraordinary nurse. She epitomizes all of Providence's core values and treats everyone she encounters with dignity and respect. She does a phenomenal job helping to orient countless travelers and leadership. She proactively identifies policies and processes that need improvement and updating. She spends her downtime reorganizing patient care areas to support an optimal environment of care, meeting joint commission standards. She strives to maintain evidence-based practice and shares her new knowledge with her peers.

Susan has a wonderful relationship with the community she serves. Her extensive knowledge and compassion led to a safe discharge of an elderly couple who may not have experienced such a good outcome. She adamantly opposed their discharge due to multiple safety concerns. She utilized her chain of command and brought together an extensive interdisciplinary team to address their needs. Multiple cross-facility experts and family meetings lead to a collaborative decision to transfer this couple closer to family, in a facility where they could remain together. If it was not for tenacity and advocacy, they may not have had such a great outcome. This is one example among many that represent why Susan is a DAISY Nurse.
