February 2018 Honoree
susan ariola, RN
Susan Ariola was nominated for her persistent nature to ensure a patient's exam was completed in a timely manner.
Susan's patient was admitted to the ED then assigned a bed one day later. To prepare for a procedure, the patient was given certain medications and wasn't permitted to eat.
After not eating for two days and not knowing when the patient's procedure was scheduled, the patient's family grew worrisome. Susan helped them get answers by getting to the bottom of why there was a miscommunication and called the patient's physicians to get it scheduled as soon as possible.
"She went above and beyond to take care of my husband every time she was on her shift," the patient's wife wrote in a nomination letter. "She was always pleasant and attentive - she's great!"
