Suzanne was nominated for a DAISY by one of her nursery Nurses. The colleague said, “Suzanne is one of those rare people who makes you feel at ease within minutes of talking to her. In the few years I have worked with her, I have witnessed so many times where she faced a difficult or scary situations with a calm, reassuring attitude. Imagine the fear in a mother’s heart when she realized she is about to deliver her baby at 30 weeks. It takes a special person to be able to tackle such a scary situation from all angles: talking to the mother through her fears, managing our staff to prepare for the baby, and being available during the delivery to assist with all the needs that arise.
As parents of new NICU babies come to visit their babies, Suzanne always greets them with a smile and takes the time to listen to their needs. She never makes these parents feel like they are low on her priority list; instead, they have the full center of her attention no matter how busy she may be.
From an employee’s perspective, I know with 100% certainty that I always have a friend in Suzanne, and that is invaluable to have in a Nursing Leader. Along with her compassion and kindness, she also has an unwavering desire to do what is right and fair.
