I'm a nurse, and I know that we all have that one patient that we never forget. However, I never realized as a patient that I'd have that one nurse that I'd never forget. I came into the hospital at 30w3d and ended up in the OB ICU preeclamptic with severe features. My body was no longer handling this pregnancy very well, and I was terrified. Sydney brought me through it. The more scared I got, the harder Sydney fought to help me. She ensured that I understood every step of what was going on and advocated for us to have enough information to make an educated decision. She showed compassion, love, and caring that was astounding. During the c-section, she let me know that she was there with me and wouldn't leave me. When my husband had to leave the room, she held my hand and told me she was proud of me. Now that things have settled, it's me that's proud of her. She went so far above and beyond for me, and I'll never be able to thank her enough for getting us safely through this.
