E is my only family and is mentally challenged since birth. He lives in a group home in Crookston. During his stay at Sanford, I was so impressed with the compassion and care Sydney had for E. She was so kind and patient with him and he was in heaven. He felt safe and secure. I had to leave to go home to attend to family and was at peace with leaving. Upon returning each time, I would find that the nurses had printed off pictures to color. These pictures were colored when I came back. They had spent time with him. He had eaten well and was given all the foods that he likes for his meals. Very pleased. They checked on him a lot and as he started feeling better, visited with him. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a display of compassion and care. I have worked in a hospital and with people who have disabilities. They are true professionals and should be commended. Respect and dignity were present throughout E’s stay. I will be forever grateful.
