During my stay, I have received care from a number of qualified nurses. Yesterday I received wonderful care from Tamica all day long. From the start of her shift, she demonstrated excellence. She was eager to learn about my present medical situation and repeatedly and consistently shone as a truly gifted nurse - with skill, compassion, and helpfulness. Examples: when I awaited a procedure, she checked in with updates and medicine/fluid orders. When I came back from my procedure, Tamica ensured I was safe by assisting with a bedpan, thus ensuring I didn't walk too soon after the anesthetic. When I leaked beyond the bedpan, Tamica gently, calmly assisted me to change gown and sheets. Her amazing gifts of true care for her patients are matched with her smiles and ability to match a patient's laughter or embarrassment with incredible kindness. When Tamica knew my meds had been changed post-procedure, she communicated helpfully with me and my care team. And when no one in 3 days could do it, Tamica obtained a table for me. It was nearly the end of her shift and she saw a patient in need (especially now that I'm allowed foods) and Tamica made positive change happen. I and Swedish are lucky to have Tamica as a nurse!
