Tammy Marcum is a registered nurse (RN) who practices in the Critical Care Unit. Tammy is being honored with the DAISY Award for being an extremely knowledgeable and compassionate nurse. Tammy’s respiratory experience coupled with her nursing knowledge have proven to be a valuable asset to her and her team members as she is referred to by her peers as the “go to person” for complex clinical situations. Tammy is described as being very compassionate with patients and families. A particular example of this compassion was when a team member was caring for a terminally ill patient with 6 children, the youngest being only 8 years old. The family was very emotional and had many questions. With the best needs of the family in mind, the primary nurse asked for Tammy’s help. Tammy responded to her team members and with great compassion, met the needs of the family. Tammy’s actions exemplify her as compassionate and a great role model for team members. Her nomination reads “You will find no one more deserving of this award than Tammy.”
