Tammy is a nurse at GMC-Silvis and works on MedTele. Pharmacists from the department interact with Tammy when they are on MedTele doing clinical work and when they call down to MedTele for any questions regarding patients. Pharmacy Technicians interact with Tammy when they deliver medications to the floor. While working with Tammy, we have all noticed she cares a great deal for her patients and always tries to make their stay as enjoyable as it can be. She is always going to bat for her patients and wants them to have the best care possible. An example of this is when she was converting one of her patients from an IV drip to subq insulin. She went in to give her patient a dose of long-acting insulin and the patient notified her that she was unable to tolerate this type of insulin. This was new information that was not listed in the patient's chart or that medical staff had been notified of. Tammy escalated her concern to the hospitalist and pharmacy. It was decided to try a different type of insulin for the patient so she would not have to remain on an IV insulin drip. The patient was able to tolerate this other insulin and was able to be discharged the next day.
Tammy is always in a great mood and is truly a joy to be around. She is happy and funny and knows how to put a smile on everyone's face. She definitely creates a positive work environment. Tammy is very team-oriented and we have observed her helping her coworkers with certain tasks many times. She also stays late on her shift to help out and even picks up shifts when needed. Each interaction with Tammy is a positive one. She is helpful to our pharmacy technicians when they are delivering medications to the floor and she is always quick to answer questions about her patients when Pharmacists call. She is admired and respected by the pharmacy staff.
