I will always be thankful, that she caught me that night, and I will never forget the perspective she gave on my recovery and the impact I had on people while on the floor.
While going through my experience of end-stage heart failure, heart transplant listing, two heart pumps (one ruptured), countless SWMS, and a punctured lung, blood clots rushed to my feet, leaving it excruciating to walk. I was always optimistic and took things head on until one night I broke down in tears, feeling like a burden to my family, that I'm failing as a father and new husband (got married on 6S, during my stay) and that the nurses were wasting their time on me, Taylor noticed my down expressions and mannerisms, even on a night where I knew she was spread thin. Taylor sat there and listened to my breakdown. She then lifted my spirits by telling me that they usually see people on the LVAD transplant rotation who don't put in the work or effort like I have been. She said that I was one of the patients that you pull for and wish for since they have “heart” and determination to survive and get better. She pulled me through an incredibly tough night that night. Over my 43-45 days in the hospital, Taylor rescued me from a serious downward spiral. Taylor truly saved me from myself and crushing guilt. She is not only an amazing nurse but an extremely compassionate and warm person. I will always be thankful that she caught me that night, and I will never forget the perspective she gave on my recovery and the impact I had on people while on the floor.
