Theresa was nominated by a family whose baby daughter was born at 29 weeks. The baby appeared to be healthy, just small, at birth. A couple weeks after their daughter’s birth, the family got the news their precious daughter had NEC and was being transferred to LeBonheur for higher level of care. After arriving at LeBonheur, this family met their nurse. Theresa Ashley walked them through the diagnosis, answered questions, and treated this family as though they were apart of her own family. At the end of her shift, Theresa took the time to sit with the parents and explain to them what they may see happen through the night and assured them she would be there to support them in the morning. Theresa kept her word. The next morning, she was back in their room ensuring she was doing all she could to comfort their daughter, and them. This sweet baby girl is now an angel but the nominating family closed the letter saying Nurse Theresa changed their view of nursing forever.
