Tiffany is amazing at communicating with the staff in a way that never seems punitive or argumentative but always with the message being received.
Tiffany is at every RRT called while she is on shift as a resource person for her ICU nurses during rapids and ensures that patients that need to get transferred do safely and in a timely manner. During COVID she went above and beyond coming in hours early to help deal with the day-to-day issues like staffing and helping the front-line staff as much as possible. Especially since the nurse manager was out for over 2 weeks during COVID as well as my evening manager was out.
Tiffany more than held her own in leading her staff through such a chaotic time. Tiffany with her background in human resources and ICU experience has been able to build strong relationships with her night staff. She is often referred to as Mom as she is very invested in guiding them and cultivating them as strong ICU nurses, specifically because a lot of the night staff are newer RN’s. Tiffany has the innate ability to have her enthusiasm and passion for critical care spread to all the staff. She is very engaged in teaching the newer staff through mock codes and scenario-based teaching for the nurses while they are on orientation and even after. She highlights different things to work on for the staff as a whole over periods of time with guiding points and highlights along the path of improvement for the unit in general. She holds the profession in general to such a high standard and that permeates down to the staff.
Tiffany is amazing at communicating with the staff in a way that never seems punitive or argumentative but always with the message being received. She always is able to see the big picture and makes decisions accordingly a trait oftentimes not seen in new leaders. She has really taken ownership of her night staff creating GroupMe chats with the night staff so real-time communication and feedback can be seamless. This was especially helpful during COVID. The staff has so much confidence in her and that is something that has grown as she has only been in the role for a year and a month. It is never easy coming from another facility and from a CTU ICU background to a new position as a manager. Getting to know the new staff is difficult enough but never having worked in an ICU was an extra layer of difficulty. Throw in a pandemic and it was not an easy first year for Tiffany. I could not be any more proud of her and the leader she has become. Her growth in assimilating to the unit, gaining the trust of the night shift, and stepping up during COVID. I could not have done my job in guiding the unit through the pandemic without her. She does so much day in and day out and deserves to be recognized for it.
