She looked at me like I was more than a page in a textbook. She looked at me like a person
For about 3 ½ months, I was in severe pain. During this time, I was admitted to the 4th floor three times. Each time, I was blessed to have Toni as my nurse. Despite the indescribable pain I was in, Toni always found a way to make me smile. Not only was she the most attentive and thorough nurse, but her bedside manner was the best I‘ve ever experienced. It was through her and her devotion and her genuine love for her job that I got better.
Toni fought for me and my health when I couldn’t, and I am beyond grateful to have had her. I truly would not have survived had she not fought for me. We fought doctors for months. It felt like nobody would listen. Then we got Toni, and she made sure we were heard. Not to mention that she was the only one who explained to me in a way I could understand what the doctors did in my surgery. In pre-op, nobody explained what was going to happen to me, so when I returned to the fourth floor with complications, my anxiety was through the roof. I had no idea what was happening to me until Toni talked me through it. She looked at me like I was more than a page in a textbook. She looked at me like a person, and even better, she treated me like she’d want her own children to be treated. Thank you for saving me.
