I have had compliments from patients regarding Tonya and her willingness to pray with them. I never really understood the impact of that, until today. Today my sister came into the ED as a patient, and we had a little bit of a scare. As my sister and I were talking about it, we started to cry. Tonya walked into the room to check on her. Tonya was not her nurse, but stopped by anyway. We told her what was going on. She said, “hold on a minute” and proceeded to close the door and the curtains around her bed in the trauma room. She then took my and my sister’s hand and began to pray. As she prayed, I could hear my sister affirming Tonya’s request during her prayer. I knew then that this made a huge impact on my sister, which made a huge impact on me.

I am very proud that I have a nurse who will stop whatever she is doing and take the time to pray and ask for divine help for our patients. Tonya confirms my thoughts that I have the best nurses working in my ED, and I am very grateful that Tonya chooses to work with us.
