C-collar was placed on the patient, and with assistance from Tonya, security, and a VMT crew that was present, got the patient out of his truck and into an ED room.
On Friday, the Emergency Dept was extremely busy. I was working the desk and the floor as a tech, when I received a phone call from registration, who informed me there was a gentleman in his truck who needed assistance out due to falling off a 15' ladder. At the same time, Tonya, who was acting as Nurse Supervisor and floor charge stopped in the ED doing rounding. All the Emergency Dept nurses were in rooms and the other tech working with me was busy, when I told Tonya what was going on, she immediately offered to assist. I obtained a cervical collar, and we went out to get the patient. C-collar was placed on the patient, and with assistance from Tonya, security, and a VMT crew that was present, got the patient out of his truck and into an ED room. Tonya stayed to help assess the patient, place them on a backboard, and maintain C-spine until the Nurse assigned could come to visit the patient. Tonya normally works on the Medical/Surgical unit, but she was a great asset that day in the Emergency Department.
