Tracie joined the SLELS team in May of 2006, shortly after the hospital opened. Tracie has weathered many changes and served in many roles since joining the SLEH team 7 years ago. She has been an RN, team leader, preceptor and mentor since MS and PCU were one unit. She was instrumental in the success of the medical-telemetry unit through her preceptorship of new hires while working on PCU where the majority of the medical-telemetry staff oriented. She takes pride in the success of our new hires, our patient satisfaction scores and quality outcomes. She has been involved in shared governance, serving as chair of unit practice and patient relations. What has been most rewarding has been the many PI projects she has owned aimed at improving patient satisfaction and HCAHPS scores; including the Call Light Super Bowl and patient education on medication side effects.
In addition to her peer relationships, Tracie LOVES her patients and that is why she is being recognized for the DAISY Award. She serves as a role model for patient advocacy and care. Tracie is one of our "cheerleaders" for the MT and CVRU units. The compassionate and inspirational care she provides to our patients, families and team members has been recognized and appreciated by many. Tracie's team members routinely recognize her for being an outstanding patient advocate. She consistently ensures our patient's needs are met during their stay and long after they are discharged. She recognizes the importance of providing patients the care they need while they are here and doesn't hesitate to engage in difficult conversations that empower the patient to become an active participant in their own care. In 2012, Tracie received over 8 daisy award nominations, many Best Place cards from patients and families and was recognized as a Spirit and Art of Nursing award nominee. All of these recognitions resulted from Tracie's commitment to her patients, families and team members.
Tracie, you have taught all of us about compassion, teamwork, quality and leadership over the last 7 years. We are honored to work along side you and excited you have been recognized for your dedication to the nursing profession and most of all, our patients.
