Tyler would come into the room humming or singing, and Dad loved to hear this. When the decision was made for Dad to move to the Hospice House, Tyler arranged for him to play the piano one last time in the lobby before leaving the hospital. He had arranged for a large group of people to be in the lobby to sing along.
My family would like to recognize Tyler Meldrum for what he did for our family during a very difficult time in the ICU. My dad was admitted to the ICU with a diagnosis of heart failure. During his time in the ICU, Tyler was so kind, attentive, and caring to not only my father but also our entire family. He took the time to listen to all of the doctors and sit with us after the doctor left the room to explain all of the information that we were getting. He patiently answered all of our questions and truly cared about each and every one of us (I have four sisters and one brother). My dad was a music instructor for 40 years, so music is very important to him. Our family will never forget this moment and what it meant to our dad! He then walked with us as we pushed Dad around the lake to the Hospice House and he made sure Dad was settled in his room before he left. Tyler not only took great care of our dad but he also took care of our entire family. He always made sure that we were comfortable and understood everything that was happening. He never left at the end of his shift without stopping in the family room to let us know when he would be back. Tyler is not only an amazing nurse, but we can tell that he is a genuinely amazing person. We appreciate all of the care that we received during Dad's hospital stay but Tyler went above and beyond to help us during a very difficult time, and we will forever be grateful that he was working when we needed him the most. Dad passed away, but we thank Tyler for making his transition to Hospice such a positive experience, and we will never forget what he did. SEIRMC is lucky to have him, and he deserves to be recognized for the outstanding care that he provides to his patients.

Tyler cared for a patient multiple days in a row. He went above and beyond taking time to explain physician findings and to help both patient and family come to a plan of care moving forward. It was decided that the patient would be most comfortable and have best quality of life with our Hospice House services. After getting to know the patient, he learned that the patient volunteered to play the piano, here at SEIRMC-WB. Tyler went out of his way to arrange, along with family, for the patient to stop in the lobby, before heading to the hospice house, so he could play for our visitors and staff just one more time. It was an emotional and wonderful celebration of life for the patient, who so generously shared his gift to our facility for so long. Once the patient had finished playing, Tyler took time out of his day, accompanied by family and friends, to push the patient around the lake to the Hospice House, rather than the family driving him there. The family voiced how very grateful they were for going above and beyond to give the absolute best care and provide dignity at the end of life.
