As a college student, I find myself increasingly encountering the “bureaucratic run around” in attempting to get things done. That’s why I find it so refreshing and wonderful when someone stops for a moment to help you out going above and beyond what they were required to do. Nurse Valerie Hicks is one of these people.
I came to the Allergy & Immunizations Clinic to get my last shot of a series. To my dismay, it was closed!! I came in any way to ask about other options because my father needed my ID card back immediately because he was retiring. I explained my situation and the fact that the clinic had been very delayed in getting the new shipment of the vaccine I needed and that there had been a mistake in the input of the date of my previous two shots. The whole situation was frustrating to say the least. Nurse Hicks, even though the clinic was officially closed, showed kindness and compassion and gave me the vaccine.
