Vicki provided care to a patient in MICU who came in with a very compromised condition. He had a wound on his leg which was necrotic. The patient's niece called to express her thanks for the compassionate care that Vicki gave to the patient and family. All of the nurses took good care of him but Vicki stood far above the rest. She patted the patient and touched him with such love and compassion. She never grimaced or made him feel unapproachable. As the patient quietly declined and passed she was there with him and the family. She hugged them as if they were her own family. She even cried with them. This family will be forever grateful.
