Miss Wanda Hoffart has so much compassion in her heart. She's the kind of person that takes time to find out how you feel and right away you can tell a lot about her professional skills as a nurse. Empathy to me means I can feel secure and confident that she looks out for my state of wellbeing. Having PTSD and hypertension, I don't trust most people but when I see and talk with Wanda, I feel absolutely secure and happy. Being a Vietnam Vet, I have seen a lot of death and destruction, which hurts me. Wanda looks after me with a smile and it all goes away. Thank God and VA Long Beach that you have a professional and dedicated nurse who response to Veteran's needs. While it is extremely challenging for a nurse to meet the needs of so many patients in a hospital, Wanda goes above and beyond her duties to ensure each patient is taken care of. I have seen Wanda bust at work at her desk, on the computer, handling phone calls, and dealing with walk in inquires. She is not only professional and efficient, but also personable and caring at all times. I have found that Wanda not only assists to treating a patient's physical needs and symptoms but will also take the time to listen and understand. She treats the entire patient. I have witnessed Wanda at her desk working late while other have finished for the day. She is truly committed to the patient.
