William was nominated by several employees for his selfless act of compassion towards the wife of a patient who was nearing the end of life. Bill had spent much time getting to know the family and providing support to them over the course of their stay. The wife felt that Bill would want to know that her husband was nearing the end of life and asked that he be notified. Bill came in on his day off and stayed with her until her husband passed the next morning. He helped with post-mortem care and walked her to her car afterward. Bill went above and beyond what is asked of nurses because he cares so much that his patients and their families get the care they deserve.
