One afternoon, a newly admitted patient came to the Medical Oncology ward. One nurse did the routine check and evaluation and found that the patient's PICC was blocked. The patient was very anxious as she was scheduled to have chemotherapy through the PICC next day. It seemed that the therapy had to be postponed due to the blocked tube. He might need a new PICC. At that time, Nurse Zhou Xiaoyan came with a nursing vehicle and told the patient that she would like to try to do thrombolysis of the PICC in an attempt to clear it. Then she did the procedure according to the protocols. It was not easy, and she had to do it over and over again. The time went quickly, and it was time to call it a day for Xiaoyan. We all know that she has a little child waiting for his mother, but Xiaoyan kept working on the PICC without a thought for self. Finally, she cleared the obstruction from the tube, and the patient was wild with joy! He expressed his gratefulness mingled with regret for keeping Xiaoyan so late. Xiaoyan just smiled and said that it was fine to work late as long as her patient felt less pain. That was just an ordinary day for Xiaoyan as a nurse.
