Cody went above and beyond for his patient when he had noticed some changes on the tele monitor for a patient. He was very proactive and went ahead and got an EKG. Which showed an ACUTE MI. The patient was asymptomatic but Cody was still very concerned. When I arrived at the change of shift to get report from him, he told me he was still very concerned even though cardiology and several other Doctors had been to see the patient. During bedside roundings, we noticed that the patient's BP was lower than usual. Cody and I went to get the patients Doctor. A rapid response was called and the patient was upgraded. Cody stayed the entire time until the patient left the unit. He went above the call of duty and stayed and did everything he could to make sure the patient was ok and made sure I, as his fellow nurse, was not overwhelmed.
It really means a lot when you have nurses who are truly concerned about their patients and their care as well as making sure their fellow nurses are ok. The patient even told me that Cody was one of the best nurses she had. She said he was very comforting to her and kept her calm through the whole process.
Cody, thank you so much, this means so much to me to know that I have a great nurse to work with. You went above and beyond and your compassion and caring attitude towards your patients and coworkers are amazing!
