The journey at Temple started back in December when Mom was very sick. Her oxygen levels were so low, it prevented her from leaving the hospital. The hope was that she would be eligible for the lung transplant list. After many long weeks of testing and hoping and praying, she was finally added to the national lung transplant list. We hoped and waited for her to finally get that call. After 2 months of hoping and praying, she did get that call one late night in February. Mom finally got her new lung.
In the weeks to follow, she experienced some setbacks and very scary times for all of us. Through all the setbacks and rehabilitation delays she has remained strong and determined to push through and live the active life she was always meant to live.
Through this entire 100 days of care (hopefully not too much longer until release), Beena Joseph has been a pillar of strength. Staying by Mom's side showing support, strength and total compassion for her and our entire family. She has made this unfortunate situation feel like a second home to us all. She's been very knowledgeable in helping us navigate the murky waters, thoughtful of our every need and just overall wonderful. It seems to me that Beena touches the heart and soul of all the patients and families that she cares for on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
She is truly an Extraordinary Nurse!
