I saw Linda Long, ARNP approach the young children of a critically ill patient in the waiting room. As children are, they were talking, jumping around and running around the waiting room while their parent was visiting inside. Linda approached them in a friendly, caring manner and asked if they would like to go for a walk and they eagerly agreed.

After gaining permission from their parent, Linda took them for a walk around the lakes and a visit to the helipad. Linda took this time to not only expend their energy but also communicate with them about their family member. They returned to the waiting room in a calm and appreciative manner.

At a time when Linda's department is stretched thin, Linda took the time to reach out to the children of a critically ill patient, helping both parents and their children.
