We recently had a letter written by a patient about the way in which Leslee took care of her during her stay. It was in the staff meeting and all the staff collectively took a deep sigh and agreed with the writer, as we knew it was a very true statement.
After hearing the letter, it compelled me to write this about Leslee. Leslee started on our unit as a new nurse and somewhere in the early days, she decided to try something else in nursing whilst trying to find her path. Soon after she returned to the 4NT and we were excited about her return.
Sometimes it is the small things that make one feel better and Leslee knows how to elicit "that thing" from those she is around.
We know Leslee exemplifies what it means to be a team player and an RN. She goes out of her way to make sure everyone else is doing okay. As we go through the day and we have our waves of ups and downs, Leslee makes sure that she talks to you and elicits some sort of smile or offer a helping hand. You can hear her laughing with her soul as she shares a joke or shares memories with the patients. She talks to just about everyone, or she can be found quietly in the corner talking to a family member who needs that extra TLC. Sharing a tear.
We appreciate Leslee's positive attitude and her ability to motivate people to contribute to a better day for all.
As a plus, she is teaching us sign language, you just can't beat that.
