Each night that I work beside Janet Hillis she brings her 30 years of experience as a nurse and preceptor to our newest nurses to our unit. Janet shows compassion when working with her patients that could only come from being a patient herself. Despite her own recent battle with cancer Janet remained determined and caring. After all that she has been through Janet brings hope to her patients each day.
Working with critically ill patients Janet is consistently the pleasant face on our unit that family members search for with questions. She is equally always ready to help when any team member on our unit turns to her. I would like to nominate her for the DAISY Award because I believe she embodies the spirit of a nurse, always patient, kind and compassionate. Janet is supportive and caring to her patients, their families and a mentor to her fellow nurses.
