In addition to Katie's flexibility, she is truly mission driven. If there is a need in the department, whether it be patient, co-worker or hospital related, Katie steps right in. When there is a death or a family emergency, Katie is immediately on the phone trying to cover that co-workers shifts and on call. When there is a special patient need, Katie immediately calls the resource needed to help (Pastoral care, Case Management or the manager). If there is a committee that we need representation on Katie will volunteer. Along with the extra work that Katie does, she also cares for her family and ill mother. Katie teaches caregiver, ACLS and assists with sedation in a local dental office. Katie truly exemplifies the mission and deserves to be honored with the DAISY Award.
