Deborah was nominated by a Veteran under her care. They used the ICARE principles and chose Advocacy to define Deborah. Advocacy is defined as truly focusing on serving the Veteran.
The Veteran who nominated Deborah stated that she "really appreciated the time Deborah took to explain in-depth the procedure and policies of the CLC-3 and why they were there. Also, Deborah was the most knowledgeable and helpful on the Hoyer slings (including) how and which ones to use. Also, on a very busy Sunday, she took the time to train how to and helped another nurse put me in the whirlpool tub!"
Deborah is very passionate about all the Veterans that she encounters and is their biggest advocate. She is a hard worker and always stays busy. If it is a slower day, she will reach out to her supervisor for extra tasks, and when tasked with something she makes it a priority to complete in a timely manner. For example, when we instituted a new side rail assessment, Ms. Jackson took the initiative and completed the assessment on all 30 Veterans in a matter of a couple of days. She enjoys being involved in different workgroups and takes pride and commitment in her workplace. She was recently selected as the CLC-3 unit educator. Deborah embodies what nursing is about!
