Words cannot express how grateful I am to have had Kim Martin as my lactation counselor. We had just moved to Glenwood 10 days after our baby was born and he was losing a lot of weight. I was going to weight check appointments like it was my job! I was exhausted, stressed, overwhelmed and annoyed. Instead of another weight check at Pediatric Partners, they referred me to VVH lactation. In comes our nurse.
Kim's demeanor, passion, love, and understanding were a breath of fresh air. She listened, really listened and spent time understanding our situation. She worked with us and got my baby to latch well for I feel like the first time in weeks. I felt a huge weight lift off my shoulders. She not only helped my baby latch, but she was also my mental support. She was positive; she hugged me and told me I was doing a good job. Sometimes that is all you need to hear. I left my appointment feeling better equipped to take care of my newborn. I continue to see her almost every Monday. The community of mothers and the help and encouragement of her got us where we are today. My son just turned 1 and we are still breastfeeding! At a time when I was about to give up, I cannot thank her enough for helping us through our struggles. Kim is the best of the best!
