A patient was badly in need of clothing but her size was 5X Large and even the gown would not cover her whole body. Lisa Magundayao RN, went on her break time to Marshall’s to search for some items for the patient, purchased some things for her and assisted the patient with her ADLs. Lisa always demonstrates a caring attitude. Even though she could delegate tasks to counselors, she always takes it upon herself to offer assistance to patients when needed. One time she admitted a shaky, hungry homeless guy who hadn’t showered for months and with her encouragement and patience assisted this reluctant patient to shower, brush his teeth and gave him a hot meal and warm bed to rest on. Her genuine concern for patients and her co-workers is observed by one and all. Last December 2010 it was her day off yet she dropped by to give her share for patients’ Christmas gifts and brought goodies for all 3 shifts of staff as well. These are some of the many instances when Lisa exhibited empathy, kindness and concern for her patients and staff. She is a shining example of the many nurses who embody the mission values and philosophy of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
