The scariest time in a parents’ life are the moments when the health and well being of your child in jeopardy. I am writing to let you know how thankful my husband and I are that Westchester Medical Center exists in our community. I never thought I would see the inside of the Burn center but as luck would have it my son decided it was something he just had to experience. Our son suffered from 2nd degree Burns on most of his right arm.
I don’t know if there are words to express the respect and adoration we feel for the nurses of the Burn Center. They not only took care of our son but mommy and daddy too.
One special nurse that will remain in our hearts, and I think our sons first crush, is Tara Simpson. She was there for the 3 days we were in the hospital. She made sure we were comfortable, got us anything we needed, helped us understand the proper care of cleaning of the wounds, but above all supported us emotionally through actions and words. Our son wanted to take Tara home with him when he left and still asks for her quite often. Tara impressed us with her skills as well as her positive attitude and caring for our whole family. We will be forever grateful to Tara.
