From the patient’s wife:
“Laurie is Extraordinary. She's obviously highly, highly skilled. And she's able to clearly, comfortably, translate all the complications of my husband's massive heart attack in a way that was caring and patient. She never made us feel as if she was too busy to take as much time as we needed though it was obvious that she was racing throughout the day. She related with my husband in such a wonderful way that I could see that he trusted her and felt her care and concern for him.”
From the patient’s sister:
“I flew in from Maryland and came to Kaiser's ICU from the airport. Laurie in a calm and effective way quickly brought me up to speed about my brother's heart complications. He had 12 hanging bags and monitors that she patiently explained to me. This was very impressive, but more impressive was the constant care that Laurie gave him and what a strong patient advocate she was. My brother trusted her implicitly and this made for a much calmer situation. Your whole staff here is a wonder. Laurie was a professional dancer, but the way she moves around the ICU for patients trumps her role as a ballerina in Swan Lake.”
