When my husband was in the hospital with dermatomyositis, he also received a diagnosis of esophageal cancer. Susan went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met. The day my husband was diagnosed with cancer, even though she was not his nurse that particular day, she took the time to comfort me, talk to me, and encourage me. Since his discharge from the hospital, Susan has continued to keep in contact to ensure that we are able to get in touch with the proper people to make his treatment feasible. She took the time to reach out to a social worker to help us get assistance with our stay while he receives radiation and chemotherapy. She helped to lighten the load and take a lot of the burden off in this trying time for our family. During our stay, Susan was always encouraging. She not only made sure the needs of the patient were met but the family members as well. Susan always had a very positive attitude and always spoke encouraging words. Without her, I would have been completely lost on this journey.
