I wanted to thank an amazing staff and team of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital. Everyone from the physicians, the nurses, and the support staff was always willing to help, offer advice and comfort our family in a time of need. We always felt so comfortable leaving our little ones knowing they were being so well taken care of. The entire team always seemed to go above and beyond to ensure our little ones were receiving the best possible care. Everyone was always extremely pleasant and cheerful toward us.
Our daughter spent only a week in the NICU before being urgently transferred out to Children's Hospital. However, our son was there for almost a month. Having two babies in the NICU, in two separate places, was completely overwhelming as a parent. Seeing your little ones with tubes, lines and lying in incubators is heartbreaking. As a parent, you feel helpless as you feel there is nothing you can do to help. I thank God every day for bringing these very special people into our lives. I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for taking me and my family under their wings and treating us like family. There was never a time that you were too busy, even though you were, to answer our questions, help us hold our babies (this can be a very tedious and time-consuming task), and to just sit and take the time to chat with us. Thank you to the very special nurse who encouraged my scared to death husband to overcome his fears and help him hold his delicate baby. Thank you also to this particular nurse for praying for our babies and placing the prayer of St. Anthony is his bassinet, this meant so much to me. Thank you to the nurse who decorated the bassinets during the holidays, we will forever treasure those little sentiments. Thank you to the nurses who would dress our little one each day in a cute onesie, it seems so minor but was actually a huge milestone for us. Thank you to the two extraordinary nurses who helped ensure our baby girl's transfer went off without a hitch. Thank you to all of the nurses for the daily hugs and words of encouragement. Thank you to the three wonderful physicians who would always come to the bedside to sit and explain the plan of care and give us an update. This made us feel at ease. I appreciate all of you asking for updates repeatedly on our baby girl and being so overly concerned about her well being. We never felt rushed no matter what time of day we visited. Often because of our schedules, we would arrive well into the night to visit and were always greeted with a smile.
This team in the NICU is truly amazing. Each and everyone one of you made a difference in my and my family's lives. We appreciate everything you have done for us but most importantly how you made us feel. Times are extremely difficult for the families in this unit, most of the time you are on the verge of tears and emotionally drained but to have a team like this be able to lift you up every day and get through the hard times it means more than you will ever know. We will forever be grateful to this team for the love and support you showed us.
