During the aftermath of the hurricane, my power and internet was out and stayed out for over two weeks. I had no known phone number and I'd just had a chest x-ray for severe bronchitis. A week or so after, a policeman showed up in my yard. He established my identity and then gave me a message from my primary doctor's nurse, Nancy Johnson, RN. It seems they'd been trying to reach me and had called my son in NJ as there was an inconsistency on my x-ray. I live alone and I'm a pretty fit 73-year-old. It meant so much to me that she went that extra mile. I felt cared for and special enough to be worried about and checked on. My son has a whole new feeling about the VA. Nurse Nancy is the definition of caring.
