Brandy has always been a spectacular nurse, going above and beyond the call of duty. She will remain over her shift if she feels the need is warranted (e.g. - there are 23 patients and only three nurses). Brandy's care of her patients and those not in her care group has always been phenomenal, and I receive many compliments regarding her bedside manner and competence. The following include comment cards made out regarding her patient care:
"Brandy was patient, answered all my questions, and was careful to explain medications and procedures to me. I could not have felt safer in anyone's care."
"I had a concern regarding my procedure and did not feel the physician had spent enough time explaining it to me. Brandy came in and put my mind at ease by carefully laying out the details of the procedure, as well as offering to call the physician to speak with me again before signing the consent form. I was so impressed by her knowledge and understanding of my concerns that I signed the form without hesitation."
"I have been a patient several times at Saint Anthony's and I am always happy to see Brandy's smiling face when she enters the room! I could not ask for a better nurse."
Brandy takes charge of the schedule to assist me and is always open to staff needs without understaffing the floor. Her chart audits are clear, concise, and she is able to educate the staff regarding charting completed tasks on flowsheets, as well as encouraging staff to complete education and care plans. Brandy is patient with new nurses and makes sure they are thoroughly oriented before taking patient loads independently. She always makes herself available to help other staff with patient needs. She is able to explain charting to the Joint Commission without flaw when asked questions regarding the charts and has served on committees such as the telemetry policy committee.
Brandy exemplifies every aspect of our mission statement; her work is exceptional, and her ability to comfort and assist with patient healing cannot be matched. She takes care of her patients, as well as the staff, with the utmost caring, consideration, and emotional/spiritual ability I have ever seen. She is a true benefit to the floor, the hospital, and myself as her employer.
