I cannot say enough great things about Christy! She lights up our room when she comes in. My daughter's cancer diagnosis turned her world upside down just as she was graduating from high school. A week after her first treatment she developed drug-induced diabetes from the steroids. Christy has been so inspirational and fun-loving, it has made a huge difference in my daughter's attitude. Christy is even helping her break out of her social anxiety/shyness. Christy just seems to continually go way above and beyond in her care for my daughter, making sure she is okay both physically as well as emotionally. She has such a bubbly personality and really knows how to engage with the patients and their families. Sometimes we feel like such a bother with all the IVs going off, nausea, the meals/diabetes issues, but she is quick to inform us that we are not a bother and how happy she is to help us. She is such an asset to Arkansas Children's Hospital. She turns dark days into rays of sunshine.

On day 3 after finding out our son had stage 4 cancer, Christy sat with me and my husband and answered every single question we had. She explained things to us that we felt were "too dumb" to ask our oncologist. She sat with us until we felt we had a much clearer grip on what would happen during our son's treatment plan. On the third trip for treatment, I mentioned how our son loved to watch the helicopters take off out of the window. Well, Christy took it upon herself to get a pilot from upstairs to come down and talk with our son! Not only did he talk, he took us to the helicopter and let us tour it. My son lit up so much that night. She is a wonderful loving nurse.

She says people call her the "Queen of the Beads" and I agree because you can just tell after she helped me. I think it is amazing that she took the time to learn something that the patient did that she was not required to do. I also think that she has gone out of her way for me and I would easily call her family/BFF.

She takes time to explain everything. She follows up on any issues and makes sure we have everything we need. She checks on any concerns that we have.

We had her for 3 days. My daughter had a med that was not ordered by accident and was sick for 2 days. Christy did everything she could to help make her better. She stayed on top of anything needed and had the biggest heart about it the whole time. I really loved how she was always there and willing to help and do what she could to make her feel better.
