Allow me to tell you about an extraordinary Assistant Nurse Manager by the name of Patricia Mahon. She is an example of outstanding nursing leadership. She demonstrates compassion and caring for our patients and the team we supervise. We work under stressful conditions and despite these conditions, Trish can often be found offering clinical, physical and emotional support to anyone who may need it. I have worked with Trish since 2001 and she has always been a valued member of our team. She has gone from a strong clinical nurse to an exemplary leader. She demonstrates that she truly loves what she does.
Trish has taken part in efforts that provide a supportive environment for our clinical staff during times when our emotions have taken a beating. Some of the cases we have seen have resulted in members of our team breaking down in tears and seeking ways to cope. Trish helped to coordinate a session for our clinicians to remove themselves from the chaos of the unit, have some refreshments, listen to music and replenish their emotional banks.
Trish ensures that our team is aware of what our patients are saying, both good and not so good. She helps everyone to recognize our strengths and weaknesses as well as ways to improve. She is attentive to the concerns of our team and ensures that they always have the tools they need to perform their duties. She is passionate about what she does and never leaves an issue unresolved. She has facilitated our collaborative care council and is an active committee member for our 90 in 90 patient experience journey.
I can say without reservation that I truly love working alongside her. When she is here I am confident that all will be well because she handles even the most challenging situations with grace. Our team trusts and depends on her to be there for them. I could not have asked for anyone better to work with, nor would I want to.
