I was short of breath and felt like I couldn't breathe. Ann came in and gave advice about coughing to clear the throat so more air could get in. Miraculously her advice worked, and I felt content. She also told me about splinting to hold an ice pack and blanket to my stomach as I'm getting up, so nothing tears and that way I am not applying much pressure using the muscles required to sit up out of bed. Ann also brought in a barometer to breathe with so I could see for myself how well I was breathing. She went beyond extra care by giving that great advice.

I came into the hospital for x-rays and to seek mental health inpatient placement. Both Ann and the social worker did everything in their power to get me placed.

I have witnessed numerous encounters of Ann going out of her way to truly listen to patients and show care and concern. Not only have I witnessed this myself, but have been told by patients on the floor and now in the Emergency Department how they truly appreciated all the staff on the surgical floor, but particularly Ann. The patient that most recently told me he is so frustrated that no one seems to want to listen to him to really hear him out, hear how he is feeling. He then remembered Ann did that for him and he greatly appreciated it.
Also, when I worked on the surgical floor, I had the pleasure of working with Ann on a patient that was quite the challenge to get to stay in the hospital and to find placement. Although he did leave AMA, he left with nothing but good things to say about Ann and her compassion she shared towards him. I have not known Ann for long, but then again neither have her patients. If she can make that kind of impact on them in that short period of time and they remembered her, she must be doing something right!

Ann has always been a huge asset to our mother's care during her stay. She is also very personable, attentive and helps our mother understand the medication methods and when the next meds must be administered. We have had wonderful nurses take care of our mother and assist with her care. We are grateful for the time assistance we have received from Ann and the other nurses.
