Sandy has worked as an office nurse for the past 28 years. Not only does she have superb nursing skills, but she has also become truly a partner in the health care of our patients. There is not a day that goes by when a patient doesn't compliment her and her compassion and caring attitude that she has, whether it's taking the patient back to her room and taking her history or answering their concerns on the phone. There are numerous incidents where she has gone above and beyond what was expected to find cheaper medications for patients, making sure a prescription gets to a patient promptly, or even takes them medication samples.
What stands out, even more, is that recently our office became involved in teaching nursing students. This requires much extra time and effort to give the student a good experience. One recent student who just finished the rotation with us commented that she would like to work in this office with Sandy because of her wonderful mentorship.

Sandy is one who constantly serves in every way she can, at any time that is needed. She is truly for others! Over the Christmas holidays, after a trip to see our son, I began to experience pain in my leg. Having been a patient for many years and interacting with Sandy, I called the office. Sandy listened to my concern and offered consolation and guidance. Through Sandy's listening and professional knowledge, she was able to help determine some possibilities that might be causing the pain. Through the conversations (and Sandy knowing my medical history), it was determined that I might have a possible blood clot. Helping to determine what the diagnosis might be is not where Sandy stopped. She immediately went into action mode, spoke to the doctor, and together the dynamic duo went into action. I immediately was seen by the physician who gave orders for me to have a test done at the hospital. Immediately, Sandy began working on the order, and I was seen within a very short period of time. Sandy remained involved in helping me understand the procedure, the results of the exam, and guided me all the way through the three months of treatment. I truly value Sandy and am grateful she is always there for others. It is that caring, bias for action and personal care that I think makes Sandy stand out. She truly has a servant mentality. Personally, and professionally, Sandy is definitely for others.
