In all my life, I have never met such a genuinely kind and compassionate person. Phyllis entered the nursing profession later in life than most people do, but what a privilege to call her my co-worker and one of my best friends. I've worked side-by-side with Phyllis in the ICU here at RCH for almost 10 years. We worked nightshift rotations and she was my partner. When you spend eight, twelve-hour shifts in a row with someone every other week, emotions can be tested at times. I can honestly say that I never dreaded coming to work when she was by my side. Phyllis has an incredible work ethic and great critical thinking skills. I have known her many times to help family and co-workers out financially and never expects anything back in return. She treats each patient with respect and courtesy even when dealing with those who are unkind to her. She loves her family. I have seen her come to work exhausted many times because when she is not here she is taking care of her elderly parents who depend on her. I just cannot say enough about her except that she is the epitome of a nurse who goes above and beyond what is expected of her. She is the nurse I would want taking care of my mother. She truly leads by example. She works anywhere she is asked and can work alongside anyone. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
