My mom was on the floor with Type A flu and my dad was on another floor with Type A flu. After he had dialysis he became unresponsive and his blood pressure was dropping. Because he was getting worse, Kelsey, who was supposed to be going home soon, brought my mom down and stayed with her so she could be with my father. Kelsey allowed my mom to stand and hold his hand and was not pushing my mom to rush back to her floor so Kelsey could leave. Her compassion and kindness were incredible and really allowed my mom to say goodbye. My dad did become responsive after being moved to the ICU but at the time we really were not sure he was going to make it.
In addition, Kelsey had at one point worked the 5th floor a few years ago and she was so kind and thorough in her care with my dad that when my dad went back to the 5th floor a few weeks ago they remembered her by name and immediately asked for her. However, she was now working on a different floor.
This has been a really stressful and overwhelming time for us and to know that my parents were with such caring and skilled nurses made it easier for my sister and I to sleep at night.
