Wioletta shows care and compassion by taking on responsibility caring for and assisting other nurses' patients when the nurse is busy or occupied. We had a Hospice patient that had severe pain and besides taking care of her own patients in her district she took it upon herself to get involved and assist me in making sure my patient was medicated immediately to ensure that she was kept as pain free as possible. She is a team player who is always there willing to help. She is confident and dedicated to her patients, her work and all of us on the unit.

Ms lzdebska is from Poland and took her first job in nursing in the United States at Beth Israel Medical Center Brooklyn Division. I remember how shocked she was that I offered her a position because she was very worried that patients wouldn't be able to understand her with her accent. What she doesn't realize is what an excellent nurse I got for my unit that day. She is small and quiet and doesn't look like she would put up much of a fight but she will take on any doctor or department to get what is needed for her patients. She takes direction and criticism, if any, as a positive thing and puts them into action immediately. She is passionate about her work and it shows in her dedication and determination to do her best for each and every patient every day.

Her patients love her and are always complimenting her as "a gem" or "the best". She is well respected by her subordinates, co-workers, superiors and physicians.

A doctor said of her: "She is the best there is and we are glad to have her." She always gives time to comfort or listen to her patients or their families no matter how busy or back logged she gets. They know she is truly interested in how they feel and her reassurance allays their fears. She has an eternal smile that brightens up everyone's day and although she tries to hide it nobody has a bigger heart. She puts up with everyone including me who mispronounce her name on a daily basis and she forgives us and answers us. That is why I feel she is very deserving of this DAISY Award. I am proud to be her supervisor and to nominate her for this award.
