June took care of me as if I was a family member, made me feel comfortable at all times. Listened completely to what I said and felt. If she was able to be there 24/7 I'm sure she would try. Very committed to her patients and her job.
...
When I was a patient on Tower II several months ago she took care of me, and all I can say is I did not even know I was sick. She was soft, kind and pleasant all the time and very deserving of this award. Thank God for her compassion to all patients- I'm sure she will be well blessed herself someday.
...
I worked back in the 80's as an LPN on T-4 (now T-2). I first met June then. We switched off at 3pm. She worked days at the time and I was in many of her reports prior to my shift. I have always known her to be kind and compassionate in her daily nursing but experienced this in a more personal level several months ago while my mother was a patient. June was so kind, caring and made my mother so comfortable and talked her through a difficult time in a very soft and heartfelt way. She is so deserving of this award.
...
I have worked with June for many years and she has also cared for my family members. I can attest to her compassionate care from the aspect of family and co-worker. She is very focused on the needs of her patients. When she orients new staff she sets the bar high for patient advocacy, skill level, accountability and kindness. This is also evident when she teaches competencies or leads the T2 Professional Practice Committee. She can read a patient and know when to use a gentle or firm approach. She can ease the anxiety, pain or fear in a patient or family member. She is a role model as a team player. If I had to pick a group of nurses to work with me under any conditions, June would be my first choice because I know she would have my back if I needed help quickly. I believe she exemplifies the meaning behind the DAISY Award.
