Meghan Meehan, MSN, RN, PNP, came to Children's Hospital Los Angeles as a nurse resident on the Hematology-Oncology Unit. A bright nurse from the start, she excelled through all of the training and education, quickly becoming a great resource and mentor for others on the unit.

Those are just a few reasons why she was selected as a DAISY Award Honoree at the hospital. During a surprise ceremony - which Meehan thought was going to be a meeting - her coworkers surprised and cheered her on for being an outstanding nursing professional.

"Thank you," Meehan said. "This really means so much."

In Meehan's nomination form, Stana Bogojevic, Central Venous Catheter (CVC) consultant, describes her colleague as the type of nurse who gives her all to patients and her coworkers.

Even as a resident, "she was adored by all her patients and families that she cared for on a daily basis and was often requested to be their nurse," Bogojevic said.

After seven years as a staff nurse on the unit where she began, Meehan became the hospital's second CVC nurse consultant.

"Meghan truly exemplifies a DAISY nurse," Bogojevic said. "Her passion, commitment, teamwork, positive communication style and clinical knowledge are superb. I am privileged to work with Meghan on a daily basis and marvel at how much she has to offer the hospital's nursing department, the Hematology-Oncology service line and all patients and families."
