Kathy is more than a great nurse; she is part of our family. My daughter B has been coming to Aurora every 4 weeks for 10 years. She was diagnosed with JRA at the age of 4, now 14. We have seen several nurses come and go, but Kathy has been a constant for several years. There is nothing she wouldn't do for B and that was recently proven.

In November B had surgery on her eyes. Surgery went well, but the nurse accessing her port and prepping her for surgery is another story. I won't go into details. When Kathy heard about the difficult time we had she immediately volunteered to come and help if another surgery was needed. Well another surgery was needed in January. B was scared to death.

I called Kathy to see if she was willing to come to another hospital and do the hookup as she offered and she said, absolutely! Just had to make sure it could be done and get the all clear. Between BayCare Eye Clinic and Aurora, conversations were exchanged and arrangements made. I couldn't believe it when I got the phone call. Upon giving B the news, you could see the stress leave her face.

Surgery day went great! Kathy put B at ease, did a great job hooking her up, and came across town on her day off to do it. That's what I call going above and beyond!!! We love Kathy and would be lost without her. I don't think this letter can truly justify how much we love and appreciate her. We hope we have her many more years to come. She is someone my daughter trusts and that isn't an easy shoe to fill. Thank you Aurora for providing us with ten years of great care and wonderful nurses!
