I love all the nurses here, but Stephanie Maldonado was the God-sent angel brought our way during the hospital stay of aspiration pneumonia. Her loyalty in advocating for J's respiratory needs, even as doctors tried to quickly change or alter them, were clearly protected and upheld. This was right in line with our request, given J's history of pneumonia. Stephanie not only was ahead with seizure meds and feeding but also took the extra time and care to give J a really good water bath. We had never seen a nurse do this. Love and care at its finest! Her quiet and calm demeanor brought safety and assurance to our son, J. He even opened his mouth allowing her to suction the extra saliva secretions. That never happens! She gained his trust.
