During education days, which take her out of staffing, Sara Lee Kim can constantly be found on the unit answering the phones/call lights when there is no unit clerk calling doctors to help the other nurses helping with admissions or even taking out discharged patients to their car. Every day she shows up not only to educate staff but to help the patients and staff because she can and there is a need.
***
Being pregnant and having a rather large belly can make a 12-hour direct patient care experience quite difficult. Sara went into a room with a confused patient and sat down to figure out why a confused patient was trying to get up.
***
Sara can be seen trying to empathize with patients/families throughout their stay. I have heard her apologizing to the families and providing a place for them to vent. In the background, she is networking to get all the patients' needs met.
***
Sara has a passion for the staff. She is an educator and is always willing to help beyond her own unit. She not only reaches out to those who procrastinate with CPR renewals, but she also arranges her schedule to assist them with the difficult heart code room for 1st-time users. I know the staff won't drown in the business of the day when she is here.
