Our father was admitted to the neuro unit at your hospital with a massive stroke. His condition rapidly deteriorated and he unfortunately passed. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
During the two and a half days we were on the neuro unit with our father, we were extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to meet, interact, and receive care from Jon, the lead nurse. There was little we could do from a medical standpoint for our father but provide the best possible "comfort care" for him. Jon quickly embraced the situation and was our family's voice of reason and comfort during this time. As an example of his thoughtfulness, he made it a point of asking our mother every time he entered the room if there was anything that she needed. Our family felt lucky that Jon was on 12-hour shifts as we could maximize our time with him to ask questions, seek guidance on our father's care and basically just talk about Wisconsin Badger basketball to ease our minds. In a very quick period of time, our mother grew to trust Jon and really looked forward to his visits to the room. After our father passed, my mother wanted to make sure Jon was recognized for his compassionate care in our father's obituary.
As a healthcare executive over the past 15+ years, I have seen the full spectrum of patient care. In our case, Jon exceeded in delivering thoughtful and compassionate care for us. And for that, we want to say "Thank You" to Jon. Thank you for being there for us, thank you for answering our numerous questions, thank you for helping us through a difficult time. We greatly appreciate it.
